My challenges

Hello everyone,

How is it going? I hope everyone is having a fab weekend. I want to share with you guys some of the challenges I faced while I was loosing weight. I was asked by Sirius of a little light is all we need  (you can click here to check her blog) who is also a yummy mummy of 1. She asked me about the sort of challenges I faced loosing weight. It would have been nice if I started this blog when I actually got on my weight loss journey so I would be able to carry everyone along but I guess it is not too late to share some of my experiences.

My greatest challenge was cutting down on my food portion. I had to discipline myself so much because usually I would mount the food and eat it till my tummy can not take anything in again. I had to learn how to reduce my portion size and eat more often. I used to think eating two heavy meals a day was ideal but I was wrong as that did not help my metabolism in any way. The one thing I did to overcome this challenge was to take a gradual step towards controlling my portion. I started by reducing my portion of rice by half a spoon every time I had rice till I got to my desired portion of rice, for noodles I used to eat two and I went down by one and half then went down to one which is what I am on now or sometimes half if loads of veggies go into the mix. I remember one time when I just started this weight loss thing, I was supposed to eat one pack of noodles but your girl couldn't take it so I made one and half with the pretence that Nifemi would eat with me. Guess who ate everything, yes me! It was not easy but with time I adjusted and its been great.

Another challenge for me was cutting down on my beloved 'rice' the thought of not being able to eat rice everyday got to me and I did not feel good about it. I learnt how to incorporate other types of food in my diet and came to terms with the fact that if I wanted to do this, I had to reduce my intake of rice to once a week and at most twice a week. It was hard in the beginning, but I conquered.

Another challenge I face was eating breakfast. Believe it or not, it was hard for me! I had to cultivate the habit of eating breakfast every morning. I was not the breakfast type of girl and sometimes I would find myself forcefully eating breakfast all in the name of weight loss. With time, my body got used to it and now I do not miss breakfast. If I do not eat breakfast, I won't be able to function properly. You can read more on my post on breakfast here

As far as sweets, chocolates, fizzy/soft/pop/soda, I wasn't keen on those type of things before so it wasn't difficult to stay off them at all. Also, I had to cut out junk of course which wasn't too hard for me  because I was not a big fan of it anyway.

I hope this helps someone somewhere out there. Please feel free to leave comments and let me know what sort of challenges you face(d) while losing weight. Thank you!

Its not Miss Bee...its mummy...xxx

  3. So did you go on any specific diet, or yours was custom made? And did you exclude and food categories like cars and things like fried foods.

  4. My diet was custom made...lol. I did not follow any specific ones, I basically just cut off fried foods, grilled them instead of frying, used olive oil instead of regular vegetable oil, reduced my intake of carbs, learnt how to eat veggies and more source of proteins. I would actually do a full post on this so I can go into detail...thank you for the suggestion.
