After finding that motivation, you need to set a goal. The best way to set a goal is by creating S.M.A.R.T goals.
It has to be specific in that you have to clearly define what you want to do. How much do you want to loose? How do you plan on loosing it? What is the ideal amount of lbs or kgs you think you can loose every week or bi-weekly? These are the type of questions to ask one's self when trying to be specific with your weight loss goal;
The next thing is that your goals have to be measurable. you have to find a way of measuring progressing towards attaining your desired goal. Questions like how will I know when I have reached my goal should be asked here. In the case of weight loss, getting on the scale bi-weekly can be a good way of measuring your progress. Also, keeping record of one's statistics and also trying on clothes to see if there is any difference are good ways of measuring one's progress.
Identifying goals that are important can help bring one a step closer to achieving that goal. Attainable goals are goals set based on one's attitudes, abilities and skills. As time goes on, one can grow to accommodate bigger goals that might have seemed impossible to attain in the beginning. Developing a positive attitude towards achieving a goal is very important.
Realistic goals are important to set as they show one's willingness to be able and willing to work. it will keep you check incase you fall out of line or begin to slack. It is important to be clear on what you can attain realistically. For some, starting off small helps and then gradually they accommodate more as time goes on. For others, it might be the other way around but one needs to be realistic with the goal being set.
The last thing is time-bound. A goal needs to be time-bound. There needs to be a time frame with which you are working with. Questions to ask yourself here include when do I want to get to my desired weight? How much time do I have? This serves as sort of a motivation to make sure that the right thing is been done to achieving the desired goal.
It might sound like all these is too much but it is very important to have these things in mind when you decide to go on a weight loss journey. Also, we all know the importance of being healthy generally. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and helps you feel better about yourself.
