Summer!

Hello everyone,

How is it going? I am sorry about my long break. I hope everyone is enjoying the weather especially for us who live in cold regions where we have to go through winter which I must say was brutal this year. Anyway, unto the topic of the day.

Its summer time and there are loads of activities to do at this time of the year some of which include barbecues,  fun fairs, visits to parks, zoo, museums, road trips and the list goes on and on. It might be a challenge keeping the calories in check while trying to have fun at the same time. Discipline is the number one key when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle in general. You can have food at these places and if possible go for the healthier options if its available. It is important to be constant with food proportions and not eat more than your body requires. Another tip here is to work out after such days just to burn the calories you consumed so as to prevent the body from storing unwanted stuff as fat. Who says you can not enjoy food while living a healthy lifestyle? Here are some tips that would help you if you find yourself thinking hard about what to eat whether you are hosting a a summer event or going for one:

  • veggie/chicken sausages for hot dog;
  • whole wheat buns/flat bread for hot dog and burger;
  • sauces: ketchup, honey mustard;
  • veggie/chicken/turkey burger patties;
  • skinless/boneless grilled/smoked chicken breast or better still take off the skin on the back of the drumstick and enjoy your meal;
  • water, real fruit smoothies;
  • fruits;
  • veggies;
  • baked chips/crisps;
  • baked snacks (sausages, samosas, chicken/meat/turkey pies);

These are some of the things that you can have when you go out to such fun places and I am sure there would be more options on the menu. The great thing about being healthy is that once you choose to adopt that lifestyle it becomes a part of you and not an off and on thing or something that comes when its needed. I would love for you guys to share with me stuff that you love to eat at this time of the year, thanks for stopping by.

Until next time guys,
its not Miss Bee, its mummy..xxx
