Adopting a healthy lifestyle: Motivation




Hello everyone,

I will be doing some posts on how to adopt a healthy lifestyle in the next few days. This is just a way to get started on living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The first thing to do in adopting a healthy lifestyle is to make that conscious decision as to why you want this. Ask yourself this question: why do I want to adopt a healthy lifestyle? You have to be determined about what you want for your life. As we know, our weight is attributed to a lot of diseases out there, even though we can not completely eliminate getting these diseases happening, we can reduce the tendency of having these diseases by working on our weight. 

For some people, it might be the need to live long for their kids, family. For some it might be based on general health issues which limit them from reaching their full potential. For some, it might be their self esteem, weight loss has a way of making people confident about themselves. For some, it might just be the fact that they are uncomfortable with their present weight and feel the need to make a change because they know where they are heading to is not the best. Regardless of the category you find yourself in, having a motivation will bring you a step closer to making that conscious decision to living a healthier lifestyle.

For me, my motivation was a combination of different things. First I was sad that I could not fit into my regular clothes and I remember my mum saying one time that we wore the same size of pants (she looks good for someone who has had 6 kids and I was on my first so you can imagine). Also, I wanted to be able to keep up with my son and not get exhausted or worn out. This got me thinking and I made that determination within me to do something about my weight.
