Avocado!




Lately, I have been loving avocado. Prior to this, I had not tasted it before but since late last year I have been on avocado charade. I eat it with anything and everything possible. I have tried it with a couple of things and it has not failed me, the taste keeps getting better and better. The best time to eat it is when it is soft because it just melts in your mouth. I also like to heat it up a little, it tastes better to me that way. I went to the store and got avocado mayo and it definitely tastes better than regular mayo.

Apart from the wonderful taste of avocado, it is also very nutritious which is another reason why I like it. It is 'healthy fat', the type of fat you take in that does not harm you but instead helps your body. Additional reasons why you should eat avocados include:

  • Avocados are packed with cartoneids which is an antioxidant that helps protect against eye diseases;
  • it is a huge source of fibre which makes you feel full and also slows the breakdown of carbs in your body;
  • it protects your unborn baby and your heart. It provides a daily intake of folate, a vitamin recommended for use when pregnant to protect against birth defects;
  • the oleic acid present in avocados helps lower your cholesterol level;
  • And lastly, avocados are a good way to make your food healthier and tastier.
