Pita

Hello everyone,

How did the week go? I hope you all had a great week. I had a good one but I am glad it is the weekend. I can sleep in longer and relax.

Today's post is a recipe on pita. I used to eat pitas back in uni and I got the urge to have some yesterday. I had gotten pita bread from the grocery store and a bunch of vegetables so it was not hard putting all these together to satisfy my craving :)

Ingredients:
  • pita bread;
  • vegetables (I used green peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, & avocado). You can add more veggies if you wish;
  • Grilled turkey breast (I did this myself at home and spiced it up with a little bit of suya pepper, also you can use chicken breast or roast beef as substitute);
  • spice to taste;
  • Avocado mayonnaise;

Method:
  • Marinate the turkey/chicken breast with maggi, salt and suya pepper. Put in the oven to grill at about 350 degrees celsius for 20 mins turning the sides at intervals;
  • while the turkey is grilling, cut up all other ingredients like pepper, lettuce, tomatoes and avocado;
  • get the pita bread out, open it up and place all the cut ingredients in it;

  • once the turkey breast is done grilling, bring it out of the oven and cut it up to go inside the pita bread alongside the other ingredients;
  • add any sauce of your choice, I used avocado mayo;
  • fold and place on the grill for about 2-3 mins to make it slightly crispy and warm (again, you can eat the sandwich right away without putting it on the grill if you want. I like my sandwiches warm  so I put it in);
  • after about 3 mins of grilling, your sandwich is ready to eat.

It is a healthy dish because the pita bread is lighter than bread, packed with nutrients from the vegetables and can be eaten in place of burgers. It is also fast, inexpensive and easy to make. Please let me know if anyone tries this at home. I would appreciate feedback and also twists to making this dish. Thank you for stopping by :)

Until next time guys,
its not miss Bee, its mummy..xx
